The Avonmore Merino bloodline is sourced from large framed South Australian studs.

Breeding takes place at Avonmore, near Elmore, Victoria and lambs are grown out on pastures and stubbles in northern Victoria.

With Avonmore Merino rams, you get genuine large framed lambs able to reach 87 kg in 10 months for quick cashflow. With high fertility of up to 150% lambing rates under the right conditions, you get more meat per unit over a quicker timeframe, translating to more profit for you.

Avonmore merino genetics provide white, high yielding 20.5 micron white crimped wool which is well nourished, and produced under medium rainfall conditions, we are on average 450mm rainfall.  Our average fleece cut is 8kg per ewe whilst also rearing a lamb or two.  The rams are plain bodied with minimal neck and breech wrinkle, reducing the chances of flystrike.  The temprament of the line is also carefully selected so the big frame ewes and rams sit quietly whilst being shorn.

With Avonmore merinos rams you get diverse income for maximum profit across the seasons.  Our most recent lambs sold on farm averaging 26kg carcass weight (Spring and Autumn drop lambs).

The average yeild of our flock at shearing time was 8 kg/head. Additionally lambs cut 3.5kg of wool.

We have seen our profit increase by changing to large framed, plain bodied sheep whilst still maintaining a wool cut and we offer poll rams to help you do the same.

More MEAT and more WOOL translates to more PROFIT for your operation.
